Ground Breaking!

After a looonnnnggg winter of waiting we were FINALLY able to break ground on March 10th. We had a couple of other proposed dates, but thanks to mother nature we were not able to make them work.

I was like a kid a Christmas that night before. I slept horrible. My alarm went off at 5:45 and I was up and getting ready. Justin thought I was cRaZy for heading out so early, but I didn't want to miss a thing! Building a home means so much to me. Without getting to in depth....I am in awe that I will have a home with a family I helped create. Some where my kids can learn and create their own memories. And hey!, if they decide to never leave, I am ok with that! ;-) lol (in 25 years remind me of this post!)

Maggie watching the backhoe being brought in

So after some talking about the placement of the house and this and that the digging finally began! Talk about awesome. Ah! I was so excited. Maggie was a hoot during the whole thing. She stayed right along her daddy and kept telling me she was "working". haha. Silly kid! I was amazed at how much dirt was moved and how fast it all happened.

Then after the hole was dug I was a little scared. It didn't look that big :-P Justin was a little annoyed with me, but hey, once again being honest. After he dug the hole he than began moving the dirt around. Holy crap that was a lot of dirt that was moved....very very fast. The yard starting taking shape again.

We have a very long and narrow piece of ground. I thought the placement of the house was going to make the back yard and front yard look small, but I think it was just the opposite. I keep joking with Justin that he is going to have A LOT of grass to mow ;-) The kiddos are going to love having so much ground to play on!...so much that Justin is talking about getting chickens. Not sure if this is a valid statement or if he is just trying to get under my skin. lol

Day 1...DONE! :-D

Growing by 2 Feet!

The Roy Family is under construction in more ways than one! ;-)

The day we announced Baby Roy :)

We found out in November 2013 that our family is GROWING!! Yippy!

It was not a huge surprise to us that we were expecting again since we were trying, but it did put us in gear to get a move on the building process. By Thanksgiving we had the house plans done and most things picked out. Actually, the day before Thanksgiving we ordered our appliances.

BUT, I have to give a huge shout out the weather here in the Midwest...YOU SUCK! We did not break ground until March 10th. Ugh, talk about a drawn out process! (More on that later...)

Anyways, Yes...baby #2 is on the way! Last month we found out we are having a...GIRL! The name is picked out, but we are not sharing until she arrives.

Isn't she adorable! ♥

Let me tell you something....my body HATES being pregnant. I am sick all the time. And by "sick" I mean I have a nice bond with my bathroom. Even my other daughter, Maggie, acts like she is throwing up. Ugh, hate that. I haven't been as sick as I was with Maggie. No where even close to that sick. But throwing up every day to multiple times a day for 6 months is just not cool. Not cool at all.

Heartburn. Yah, all the time. Every way to 'cure' or keep heartburn away does not work. I swear this kid is going to come out with a head full of RED hair. Poor Maggie doens't understand why I cant hold her all the time, but it really does make the heartburn worse. :(

Enough of me going on about heartburn. I want to get started on the next post about the house!!

Backwards Construction

I have had so many people question our construction process in the last 2 years. Yup, we built our shed first.....and towards the front of our property. I agree, sounds crazy. BUT, hear me out on this. lol

Day 1 Construction

We started our own business in March of last year. Yay!! It's been a year. Woo-hoo! We are still kicking too! haha. When we purchased this property we knew we were going to build on it and planned on staying here FOREVER (<--- some of you need to quit telling me we wont be here forever! lol I am SO sick of moving!) Anyways, once we started the business we wanted somewhere to store everything and have an office, but I did not like the idea of drivers coming up to my house or driving past it to deliver things. At some point there needs to be a separation of work & home time, especially when you are a business owner. So, we built the shed near the front of the property.

Day 2 Construction

I do not have many pictures of the shed construction. It actually went up very fast. I have to admit one thing....I do not like the colors. Yup, I said it! I do not care for the colors. So, you may not see a finished product picture until the house is done because it accidentally ended up in the background. I was SO upset with the company we got the tin from. That is another discussion. It isn't HORRIBLE, but its not to my liking. Drives my husband crazy that I don't like it, but I am being honest. *Someday* it will fade and I will be able to repaint it to my choices. lol

This is my sexy construction worker ;-)  Every girl deserves a handy man! ♥

When it all began ♥

In July 2012 we purchased a little over 2 acres. It was a dump to say the least, but we could see beyond all of that. This was our "first official picture" on the property. Our daughter, Maggie, was about 10 months old here.

The home that was previously there unfortunately burned down. There was a shed/garage next to the home. It has some damage to the siding, but that was about it. Until we purchased the property we had no idea what was inside the garage. Talk about GROSS! Most items that were in the burning home were tossed into the garage, so they smelled like smoke. On top of that, they raised puppies and dogs inside the back of the garage. The garage reeked. There is no nice way to put it.

after a little mowing....

While Justin was working on cleaning up the yard I decided I was going to conquer the junk in the garage. Leave it to me....I picked up a pile of papers and grabbed a fresh spider nest. OMG freak out. I called my momma and told her to bring me any spider killer she had on hand! (on a side note...I will be living 2.2 miles from my moms back door....I am sure there will be more on that later...lol)

So that is when it all began. Enjoy some pictures of the property during "clean up".
